Make My Lunula

Make My Lunula

DIY - vernis - lunule

The lunula is the 40's style detail big trend of the moment. Our dear columnist Vanessa is crazy about it for at least 6 months.

The only problem is how to draw homemade lunula ?? A real pain when you think about it.... unless you are a graduate of fine arts ...

I may have a solution, given away by our colleague Lucia blogger  Beauty & Gibberish ... Tested and approved ... but only on two conditions :

1 - If you would like "inverted" lunula, must be dark ...

2 - If you have 2 hours in front of you ...  you must know that this ultra clever technique is still quite fastidious ...

The secret let dry your nail WELL between coats !

.

Check our photo demo, inspired by the tutorial from  Beauty & Gibberish with nail polish Dark Amethyst # 582 CND and nail polish Green 9, purchased by Nelly at Urban Out Fitter in the US ..

.

First apply a base coat, then two coats of nail polish all over the nail, LET DRY !

For this, you can help with dry polish spray,  the Good to Go from Essie,  Lucia speaks about it in her Tuto, or the dry spray from Mavala (available in perfumeries and Monoprix).

Careful this "help" for fast dry must be applied about 5 minutes after the last coat of varnish.

.

Then cut reinforcing ring in two ...

.

The half are stick to the base of the nail and used as a "stencil" to draw the lunules.

Be sure to center them on each nail for a uniform result.

.

Fill each lunula with a dark nail polish, Dark Amethyst by # 582 CND.

Then let it dry very WELL before removing the reinforcing ring (I would say at least 15 minutes), otherwise you will spoil your efforts to achieve your manicure ...

.

That's it ! Pretty isn't ?

.

You can finish by applying a final layer of Top coat ... I particularly like the one from Nars.

But again make sure that the nail polish is dry first ... I insist ... as for my part, I had not waited long enough and it ruined everything ... snifff ...

.

Otherwise ... you always have the solution to apply the glamorous Dita Von Teese capsules: Dita Von Teese Nail Set by Kiss ... Perhaps ultimately faster ;-)

The color range is really small ...  very 40's  style...

.

.

.

Good luck to all ;-) (I almost want to say good luck ;-)

.

And special dedication to Vanessa ;-)
